Sports Therapy is a healthcare discipline focused on the assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and prevention of musculoskeletal injuries typically related to sports and exercise.
It is centred around helping individuals to return safely to daily movement, sport or physical activity.
A Sports Therapist uses hands-on treatment, exercise rehabilitation, and sports science principles to return people back to full function and fitness. They help reduce the risk of injury by improving strength, movement control and functional capacity therefore building confidence with movement enabling you to perform at your best.
Sports Therapy Initial Assessment
An initial sports therapy assessment is designed to help us understand your pain or injury. During your session, we will discuss your injury history, lifestyle, movement patterns and your goals before carrying out a detailed physical assessment to treat and identify the cause of your symptoms. From there, we will create a personalised treatment and rehabilitation plan tailored to your goals whether that is returning to sport, improving mobility or simply moving pain-free again.
Sports Therapy Follow Up Appointment
A follow up session appointment is designed to monitor your progress, continue hands on treatment and support your recovery goals. We will reassess your symptoms, review your rehabilitation progress and carry out any hands-on treatment or exercise-based therapy needed. Your plan may be adapted as you progress to improve mobility, reduce pain or increase strength and stability to support a sage return to daily movement, sport or activity.
1:1 Rehabilitation Sessions
Our 1:1 Rehabilitation sessions are exercise-based sessions designed to support your recovery and progress following an injury identified during your initial sports therapy assessment or by one of our physiotherapists. Each programme is tailored to your individual needs and goals, providing the right level of support at every stage of rehabilitation. These sessions are purely gym based, with no hands-on treatment. They are centred around guided exercise and movement in a safe environment.
Functional Strength Classes
Our Functional Strength Class is a small-group session (maximum 4 people) led by our Sports Therapist Abbie. It is designed for those looking to move better, feel stronger or return safely to exercise following injury. The small class size allows for closely supervised, controlled movement, with a strong focus on correct technique and appropriate loading. Sessions run weekly over a 6-week block, with one session per week, allowing progress to be monitored and gradually progressed throughout the course.
